TRAEX Personal Safety and Security Seminar

TRAEX Personal Safety and Security Seminar

The TRAEX Tactical Solutions Personal Safety and Security Seminar is a comprehensive program that teaches individuals how to identify potential threats, how to minimize their exposure to them, and mitigate situations before or as they are occurring. The course will teach you techniques allowing you to take steps to protect yourself in various situations.

The four-hour seminar (often taught in two, two-hour sessions over two days) discusses a myriad of topics ranging from safe daily practices, to the criminal mindset. Those attending will engage in discussions regarding personal safety and awareness, trusting instincts, situational awareness, and strategies for staying safe at home, in public or the workplace, to include but not limited to walking in well-lit areas, avoiding isolated locations, and using safe transportation options.

There will be discussions regarding alcohol and drug safety: This topic focuses on educating students about the risks associated with alcohol and drug use, responsible decision-making, and understanding consent. We will discuss alcohol poisoning, bystander intervention, recognizing signs of substance abuse, and strategies for safe partying or socializing. There will be an emphasis on fentanyl and the drugs pervasive impact on our society and college culture.  Additionally, the students will learn of the dangers of binge drinking, the risks of impaired judgment, and how to intervene if a friend or peer is in danger due to alcohol and drug use.

Cybersecurity and digital safety: Given the prevalence of technology in daily life, this module educates students about protecting themselves online. Topics include creating strong passwords, recognizing, and avoiding phishing scams, and understanding the potential consequences of sharing personal information on social media. Students will also learn the importance of maintaining a positive digital footprint and practicing responsible digital citizenship. They will receive education on protecting personal information online, recognizing scams and phishing attempts, and responsible social media use. The class will also discuss the impact of social media, and the impact of irresponsible posts, and how those may have an adverse effect in the business world, and daily life.

Fire safety and emergency preparedness: This section focuses on equipping students with knowledge about fire safety and emergency preparedness. Students will learn about fire prevention measures, evacuation procedures, and how to use fire extinguishers. They will also be educated on emergency response protocols for various situations, such as severe weather or office or workplace lockdowns.

This is a snapshot of many of the topics, but not all. The seminar will discuss much more, and allow the students to express their concerns, which will be addressed and discussed in a group environment.
