NRA Basic Shotgun Course

The NRA Basic Shotgun Course teaches individuals the fundamentals of safely handling, using, and maintaining a shotgun. The course is designed for beginners with little to no experience with firearms, and is often a prerequisite for more advanced training.

The course content usually includes:

• Firearm safety rules and guidelines

• Shotgun nomenclature and operation

• Types of shotguns and their usage

• Shotgun handling and manipulation

• Loading and unloading procedures

• Shooting techniques, including stance, sight alignment, and trigger control

• Range safety protocols and procedures

• Laws and regulations regarding the possession and use of firearms.

• How to properly store and secure the firearms.

• Emergency procedures in case of an accidental discharge.

The course is taught in a classroom setting, with interactive lectures and discussion, as well as hands-on training on the range. The course includes both theoretical and practical components, with participants receiving both theoretical and practical assessment. The course may also include live-fire exercises, as well as instruction on different types of shots, such as bird hunting, clay shooting, and defensive use.
